The only one I've done was the Burton federation gateway thing a few years
ago, and that one wasn't tested ahead of time too much, but we had a couple
of days in the room face to face. I would guess if we only have a day we'll
need some online testing ahead of that.

Fairly soon we need to start nailing down how the DNS, certs, etc. are going
to be run.
 
I'm not sure that actual F2F ahead of time would be needed though. At least
not if people aren't writing a ton of code on site, which was the case with
Burton.
